Institute of studying of the problems of Asian and European countries is a new scientific and research institution, that was founded in the structure of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan on October 28, 2016, by № 466 according to Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Institute is the only scientific institution that studies politics, world economy, social studies, languages, literature, history, International relations, religious and politiсal movements, regional conflicts and cultural problems of Asia, Europe and the USA.

PROJECTS OF THE INSTITUTE
- research and analyze of the issues related to politics, economics, social, civilization, culture and languages of foreign countries from the point of view of modern science;
- studying the issues of socio-political progress, government structure, innovation policy of foreign states;
- provide the researches of the issues of internal and regional conflicts, security learning against internal and transnational crimes (including struggle against the radicalism and any other guidance of fear);
- the study of issues of unity, social integration of the social system and ways of their solution, civil society, the solution of problems of localism and opposition between regions and ethnic groups;
- organize the scientific conferences, seminars and round tables on the various topics;
- conducting the researching ideas of various sectors of civil society in various areas;
- organize the short and long-term language courses.

Brief information and structure of the department: the US and Canadian Department was established by the Decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan No. 148 dated 4 December 2023. The Europe and America Department was divided into 2 new departments. The newly established US and Canadian Department started its activity on the 2nd of January 2024. The department was established as part of the scientific-research project for five years of 2024-2028 titled The Status and Role of the US and Canada in the Contemporary International System, and its activities are aimed at researching the social, economic and political factors of the success of sustainable development. The US and Canada, the problems and prospects of their status and role in the third decade of the XXI century in order to properly utilize them in Tajikistan as a factor of sustainable development and national security of the country. As for now the department has four staff members, who are basically engaged in scientific-research/academic works in the fields of political science, international relations, geopolitics and etc. and publication of different scientific papers.

Department’s goals: Study of international political issues; preparation and publication of scientific articles, monographs and other scientific publications; work with graduate students, degree candidates, master's students, doctoral students and PhD students.

4 scientific-practical seminar was held in the department. During this period, 3 monographs and more than 10 scientific and public articles were published by the employees of the department.

Education: In 2006, she graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the National State University of Tajikistan, and in 2007-2010 completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. In 2014-2015 studied at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. In 2020, she defended her scientific thesis for the degree of candidate of political sciences on the topic "Main directions and perspectives of relations between Tajikistan and the United States" on the specialty "23.00.04 - political issues in international relations, global and regional development".
Important scientific and professional achievements: she is the author of a number of scientific articles on the relations of the Republic of Tajikistan with the USA, the relations of the Republic of Tajikistan with the countries of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, the issue of water, terrorism, etc.
Chief Researcher, US and Canadian Department
Education: In 1983, he graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Languages of Tajikistan State University and worked at Kabul University in 1983-1987. In 1992, he defended his scientific thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences on the topic "Semantics of Hafiz's poetry". In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the National University, and in 2016 he successfully defended his scientific thesis entitled "The role of non-governmental organizations in the formation of civil society in Tajikistan" and obtained the title of Doctor of Political Science. From 1994 to 2006, he worked in the American organization of the Academy of Educational Development (AED) as the head of this organization. As a researcher and public figure, Shamsiddin Karimov has made scientific reports and speeches in many countries of Europe, America, Central Asia, Russia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Turkey, Afghanistan, etc.
Important scientific and professional achievements: the author of more than 50 monographs, brochures and scientific articles on the issues of the essence and formation of the foreign policy of the state, civil society, etc. is two educational programs “Гражданское общество и СМИ”, “Граждановедение” and one educational guide - “Пунктуация в таджикском языке” for students and teachers of high schools. And also a book called "NGOs as institutions of civil society in Tajikistan" and etc.

Education: In 1998, he graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the National University of Tajikistan, and in 2007-2010 he studied at University of California, Berkeley. In 2018, he defended his scientific thesis for the degree of candidate of political sciences on the topic "The place and role of Tajikistan in the system of modern international relations" on the specialty "23.00.04 - political issues of international relations, global and regional development".
Important scientific and professional achievements: He is the author of a number of scientific articles on the issues of the nature and formation of the state's foreign policy, integration processes, international threats and challenges. He published the monograph Tajikistan in the Contemporary International System in 2020.
Education: In 2005-2007 and 2011-2013 he studied at the Department of World Economy of the Technological University of Tajikistan. In 2007-2010 he studied at the Faculty of International Relations of the University of Nebraska, USA In 2021-2023, studied and graduated with a master's degree at the Institute Asian and European States of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, specializing in International Relations.
Important scientific and professional achievements: Has translated books and articles from English to Tajik and has authored scientific articles.
